“All learning...begins with nurturing care, from which children learn trust,
warmth, intimacy, empathy and attachment to those around them."--T. Berry Brazelton
Mom's Rave about Listening Mothers

"Listening Mothers was an amazing learning experience.  The facilitator, an outstanding
professional, guided our discussions and truly enhanced my final parenting experience.  I highly
recommend this program--whether it's your first baby or your third."
--Alayne Sulkin, Mom and Editor of ParentMap

"The best aspects of Listening Mothers were the well-trained facilitator and the education she
provided, along with the small group size that created a safe and trusting place to open up, learn
and grow."
--Deborah L., Mom and Microsoft Employee
"Having a newborn was more difficult than I had expected, and The Listening Mothers Program
gave me the support I needed. It felt so good to spend time each week with other new moms
going through the same things I was. My group facilitator was able to help me through the
difficult times and focus on myself and my relationship with my baby. Now, four years later, I'm
still close with the moms in my group. And the discussions we had still help to guide my parenting."
--Penny C. Mom and local business owner

"I have three children, ages 11, 9, and 6.  The skills taught in the Listening Mothers program are
the same ones I use today both in communicating with my kids and how I approach them.  These
are life-long parenting skills that you will never put away or do without.  It will completely change
how you view yourself as a parent and how you interact with your children."

In response to our exit survey interview:  Would you recommend
Listening Mothers  to a friend?

“YES, if my friend were looking for a group that was designed to help with the emotional worlds
of the new baby and the new mom.  I really wanted exactly that kind of help, and I feel like I got
it.”

“Yes! I think it was very helpful in terms of information and support. We had a good group, in
that people were willing to talk and be open, and no one monopolized the discussion. The
facilitator did a really good job of encouraging our participation and our parenting, and provided a
solid, non-intrusive, interested presence. I would have liked a list of recommended readings and
resources, and would have liked author, source, etc. information on our handouts.”

“Yes!  I have joined several "Mom's groups" since my daughter was born, and I have definitely
gotten the most out of this one.  Never before have I felt so comfortable exploring and sharing my
own emotions about anything, let alone this complex experience of motherhood.”

“Absolutely.  Listening Mothers offers more than a conversation about teething and sleeping.
Those things are important but what made it really work for me was that it was a safe outlet to
express myself and get support about what it's like to BE a new mother, my experience of it, and
validating my struggles and triumphs.”

“Yes.  It was a good forum to talk about issues that were important in a safe environment.”

“Yes (already did).  Excellent place to meet new moms.  Most important, it is a safe and
welcoming place for moms to express their fears, concerns, thoughts, etc.”

“I would recommend Listening Mothers to a friend because it deals more specifically with the
emotions and feelings that come up as a new mother which other programs do not, mainly PEPS
and Mommy and Me.  I felt the issues that were brought up were very important and special
which needed to be addressed for me personally.”

“Definitely.  I really enjoyed thinking and talking about the psychological aspects of parenting and
the transition to motherhood. It was different from my PEPS group but I felt that the two were
very complimentary.”

“Yes. The support offered is unique. This was one of three groups I've done as a new mother
and I felt that the emotional complexity of new parenthood is most fully explored by Listening
Mothers.”
